The GENERIC kernel that is on the the install CDROM and floppies only supports the NEWCARD pcmcia hardware. This mostly means that it only supports pcmcia slots that can do cardbus and pccard, not the older slots that only do pccard. The latter is only supported by OLDCARD, and OLDCARD and NEWCARD are mutually exclusive in the kernel. Hopefully this will be resolved for FreeBSD 5.1.
