I'm using a 2940 with a Python 4xDDS2 drive on 3.1-STABLE:

    ahc0: <Adaptec 2940 SCSI adapter> rev 0x03 int a irq 9 on pci0.8.0
    ahc0: aic7870 Single Channel A, SCSI Id=7, 16/255 SCBs
    sa0: <ARCHIVE Python 28849-XXX 4.CM> Removable Sequential Access SCSI-2 device
    sa0: 5.000MB/s transfers (5.000MHz, offset 15)
    ch0 at ahc0 bus 0 target 4 lun 1
    ch0: <ARCHIVE Python 28849-XXX 4.CM> Removable Changer SCSI-2 device
    ch0: 5.000MB/s transfers (5.000MHz, offset 15)
    ch0: 4 slots, 1 drive, 1 picker, 0 portals

Again, I'm using DDS2 so my Amanda info wouldnb't help with tape
size. I did find that the chg-chip script didn't quite work -- I had
to comment out a print statement that confused Amanda when it
returned:

                $currentTape = 1;
        }

-       print STDERR "$currentTape $max_slot 1\n";
        print "$currentTape $max_slot 1\n";
        exit 0;
  }
