PnP support built into the kernel, the new sound driver also added, I rebooted. Here's what dmesg says: ------ FreeBSD 2.2.7-RELEASE #0: Fri Dec 11 23:39:50 CET 1998 root@cheasy.pk.she.de:/usr/src/sys/compile/CHEASY-P133-SB16 CPU: Pentium/P54C (133.64-MHz 586-class CPU) [snip] Probing for PnP devices: CSN 1 Vendor ID: CTL00f0 [0xf0008c0e] Serial 0xffffffff pcm1 (SB16pnp sn 0xffffffff) at 0x220 irq 5 drq 1 flags 0x10 id 13 [snip] pcm0 not found at 0xffffffff [lots of non-sound-stuff omitted] ------ Obviously, I did something wrong. But reading the sound article, I could not solve the problem (it consists of the title only at this time). Three questions: 1) How to do it the right way? 2) How to test I did it the right way? 3) Where to look for more information? Many thanks in advance Christoph Sold ---- / / P.S: Please cc: for I get this list in digest mode only. _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!?
