Mind you, I've been trying this and had very little luck, but I just have
a screwed up system to begin with.
Run /stand/sysinstall.
I use the Custom installation option, but I've heard that you can use
Express too.
Just do the Partition and Label steps; with another hard drive, you'll
have a choice of which device to partition; just use the new device; wd1
or sd1, probably.
Setup a FreeBSD partition, and label it with the mount point.
The alternative is to do it all manually; first, use disklabel(8) to set
up the drive with the right geometry and FS type (4.2BSD), then use newfs
to setup the filesystem, and finally use mount to mount the fs. Use
disklabel to look at your already-mounted fs to get any variables you
don't know, and other than that, guess.
Format should have been taken care of at the factory; I'm not sure
FreeBSD supports a way to format hard drives; other than erasing all the
partition information and starting from scratch, which has the same
effect.
Anyway, if you futz around with the commands long enough, and look
through enough man pages, you'll find the way. With a little luck, I
will too.
