(The machines are about 20km apart) The other machine has a kernel and world from sources of Sep, 17th. I typically observe this when running csup: "Name lookup failure for "cvsup.de.FreeBSD.org": Non-recoverable failure in name resolution" It also happens sometimes when using "host" for reverse DNS lookups. Repeating the same operation just after i got this error succeeds. I talked to somebody with two RELENG_6_1 machines, who made similar observations. I observe this phenomen for quite some time now and therefore doubt it is something related to the DNS servers I am using. I suspect a problem in FreeBSD, but it is still too infrequent to reliably reproduce it.
