Then see if you still have the problem. I've seen errors like the ones you reported, but this fixed it for me. Also, make sure that your drive is good. I had one I had to return because it was bad. Soren said the driver worked, and I could never get it working for me. The replacement worked like a charm. I also had one tape drive that I purchased at a garage sale for $0.50 that didn't have a tape head. That made writes to it fail as well... The other one I got at the garage sale for $0.50 has worked like a charm and it is, I think, a rebadged STT8000.
