The Sony VAIO Picturebook uses the identical cdrom. Windows identifies a secondary ide controller using irq 15 and resources 0170-0177, 0376-0376, and FCF8-FCFF. I compile a second ide controller into the kernel but wdc1 doesn't show up in dmesg. If anyone has this working I'd appreciate seeing the lines you're using from the kernel config file.
