I just tried this again with my twm.desktop (I don't have KDE installed, but I assume the example on I gave in the FAQ would work for KDE), and it worked fine: [Desktop Entry] Encoding=3DUTF-8 Name=3DTWM Comment=3DThis session logs you into twm Exec=3D/usr/X11R6/bin/twm TryExec=3D/usr/X11R6/bin/twm Icon=3D Type=3DApplication I have a ~/.xsession file, and that doesn't interfere. I also have a ~/.gnomerc (not used by GDM anymore), and that doesn't interfere. Nor does ~/.xinitrc. However, I haven't tried ~/.Xclients yet, though. If you have such a file, you might try removing it.
