Place a dos format floppy in the drive a: Now when you dd copy the file from the hard drive to the floppy it will over write the format of dos and make it a freebsd format,,,automatic,,,,, so now the dos disk is a freebsd disk.... so you do not need to format the disk for freebsd at all...
