I didn't feel like waiting for an answer... :)
I've ported the Tgif drawing tool to FreeBSD (though I can't say it
required a lot of work). Tgif is "... an Xlib-based two-dimensional
drawing facility." A test version of the port is available from
`ftp.telebase.com'; here's the URL:
