I just figured it out.  As murphy's law would have it, i tried
everything, sent the email, got an idea to try one more thing, and it
worked.  I decided to send this email right away to save everyone the
trouble of responding.  :-)

Thanks anyway.  This is just one more reason why the FreeBSD community
is so great.
