FreeBSD oz-net-11.nes.nokia.com 6.1-BETA1 FreeBSD 6.1-BETA1 #8: Thu Mar 9 15:28:44 EST 2006 hartwig@oz-net-11.nes.nokia.com:/usr/src/sys/amd64/compile/oz-net-11 amd64

>Description:
I installed the netpipe port on an amd64 system and a i386 system. I couldn't get them to converse. I copied the NPtcp file from the i386 system to the amd64 system and sucessfully used that instead.

For example, I start the 64-bit NPtcp on the amd64 system:
> file /usr/local/bin/NPtcp
/usr/local/bin/NPtcp: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, AMD x86-64, version 1 (FreeBSD), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), stripped
> /usr/local/bin/NPtcp
Send and receive buffers are 32768 and 65536 bytes
(A bug in Linux doubles the requested buffer sizes)

and then start it on the i386 system, the following output is very quickly displayed but five minutes later there is no additional output:

%/usr/local/bin/NPtcp -h oz-net-11
Send and receive buffers are 32768 and 65536 bytes
(A bug in Linux doubles the requested buffer sizes)
Now starting the main loop
  0:       1 bytes   5000 times -->

If I start the the 32-bit NPtcp on the amd64 system:
> file NPtcp
NPtcp: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (FreeBSD), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), stripped
> ./NPtcp
Send and receive buffers are 32768 and 65536 bytes
(A bug in Linux doubles the requested buffer sizes)

and then start NPtcp on the i386 system the same output is generated and in less than a couple of minutes NPtcp completes it cycle and the shell prompt is displayed.
