This is STABLE as of yesterday. It also happens during a CD-ROM install, at least with 4.6-RELEASE and 4.6.1-RC2. On one of my other systems (Dual Celeron 466, AOpen 52x) exactly the same happened, but there I could successfully set hw.ata.atapi_dma=1 in the loader. Since then the CD-ROM functioned perfectly.
