At this point, hit ALT-F2 and record what you see. How long do you give it before you consider it trashed? It could be hanging up on a big piece of source. This is extracting all of the sources for FreeBSD -- is this what you really want? You might try installing something more basic, like 'user' or custom-selecting the distributions to get what you want. If this is a first-time install, ry clean-installing, deleting the FreeBSD slice with FDISK and starting completely from scratch. If this is an upgrade, then you're going the wrong way; use the 'upgrade' option instead.
