If I login or su to root from a normal shell ie; not from X windows and then login or exit to non root user and startup X my sytem freezes up totally. I can't switch to another terminal and login (I do get the login prompt but not a password prompt) the only way to get back into my system is by doing a hard reset. To be able to use X again is to remove /tmp/.X11-unix and then reboot and login as a normal user . My system is 3.3 and I'm using fvwm95. Though the same thing occurs with gnome and kde and fvwm also. Any ideas???
