I'm terribly sorry for trouble, but I've lost any hope. I've used FreeBSD 2.2.5 as ppp dialup server, and sometimes it left an interface (tunN in case of ppp, pppN in case of pppd) in UP state with IP address given! look what i got: >Nov 29 22:29:54 mordor ppp[9271]: Phase: bundle: Network >Nov 29 22:29:55 mordor ppp[9271]: Error: SetIPaddress: ioctl(SIOCAIFADDR): File exists >Nov 29 22:29:55 mordor ppp[9271]: Error: ipcp_InterfaceUp: unable to set ip address >Nov 29 22:29:55 mordor ppp[9271]: Phase: bundle: Terminate But there was a hope what this strange bug will be removed from FreeBSD and/or ppp(d) implementation, but now I'm using FreeBSD 3.0 and the bug still here. It's alive even when i changed my pap mgetty shell from ppp to pppd. Is it known bug or it's the only my bad luck? And can you help me? With best wishes, Anatoly.
