I strongly recommend to get the teTeX package installed rather than the
'old' one. It has better path finding algorithms and combines
latex and latex2e.
It can be found in ports-current. Should be in
ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/FreeBSD-current/ports/print/teTeX
