I have an Abit IS-7E motherboard with two Maxtor SATA 160G disks. I cannot safe boot nor boot with hw.ata.ata_dma="0" with my latest kernel. It hangs at 'Mounting root from ufs:/dev/vinum/root' prompt. I tried with no vinum boot (ufs:ad4s1a), with no success.
