Using system installed version, if I understand it right, java 8, doesn't have Foreign Function & Memory (FFM) API at all. jextract is tightened to a specific java version, and there are distinct versions for java 18 and up (https://github.com/openjdk/jextract). "Pre-built binaries for jextract are periodically released here. These bina= ries are built from the master branch of this repo, and target the foreign memory access and function API in the latest mainline JDK (for which binaries can = be found here)."
