Makes sense.  Explains why it didn't work until I config -r'd.

Either way then, why doesn't buildkernel do this?  I typically use the
buildkernel target from /usr/src to build my kernel, for simplicities
sake, and that appears broken.  Shouldn't it do a clean?  (Like doing a
buildworld cleans /usr/obj)
