Please read Satoshi's message in the cvs-all list where he = explains why it couldn't be done. It could be done. It would just be very difficult and require a lot of work and, possibly, another ship-date slippage. But it *might* be worth it to help attract some users, who will have two packages (FreeBSD and some Linux distro) in a store trying to chose... I don't use Samba myself and don't know how important their latest release is exactly. From the Samba's press-release, it seemed important and I'd hate to learn that somewhere decisions were made to use some Linux distro over FreeBSD, because "it came with the latest Samba". I started this thread to get a quick discussion and, may be, attract Will's and Satoshi's attention to the new release.
