Just as a sanity check, make the floppy again, using a different
floppy.  The floppy MUST be totally error free.  Do not use any
floppies that AOL, CompuServe, etc sent to you (these floppies are
usually rejects)

I would, just to take it out of the equation...
Unix systems measure "uptime" in years, Winblows measures it in minutes.
