Hello, I have two boxes both running FreeBSD 4.1-RC. A couple of days ago i decided to compile a kernel with support for the soundcard in the second computer. Everything seemed to be ok. My soundcard is found etc. [ -- ] sbc0: <ESS 688> at port 0x220-0x22f irq 5 drq 1 flags 0x15 on isa0 pcm1: <ESS 18xx DSP> on sbc0 [ -- ] But when i try to './MAKEDEV snd' i get the following errors: [ -- ] (root@Infinite):/dev:# ./MAKEDEV snd expr: syntax error bad node: mknod mixer [ -- ] In /dev/sndstat everything seems to be ok. [ -- ] FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm) Jul 18 2000 17:53:48 Installed devices: pcm1: <ESS 5b5b DSP> at io 0x220 irq 5 drq 1:5 (1p/1r channels) [ -- ] But /dev/dsp isn=B4t working, which is also first of all being linked to itself instead of /dev/dsp0. Not having a working soundcard on that computer isn't really a fatal issue. But today i thought i should try './MAKEDEV snd' on my main computer where i have a soundblaster pci128 just to see if it works there. It got the same error output as before. This seems pretty odd, cause i know it has worked before in 4.0-RELEASE. I also asked a irc-friend with=20 a less recent build to try the same and he got the same errors. Any ideas ?=20 /-- =09Joel Lindau <alastyr@home.se> =09Nevyn -- #FreeBSD.se, #unix.se =09=09=09=09=09--/ To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-stable" in the body of the message
