I needed support for Java 1.1 and have loaded Netscape 4.06 from current. At the same time I loaded the Windows version of Netscape 4.06 for the Windows '98 crowd. The windows version seems to be fine, but on the BSD machines, all the java oriented pages are garbled. Pictures paint ok, but any text appears as junk. It's almost as if the text is compacted vs. using the entire line. I've played around with various font settings for encoding and width fonts with no luck. Even just brining up the Java Console I see the same thing. I've also tried a couple of different x-window managers hoping that was really the problem but had no luck. At this point folks are beginning to circle the wagons and just want to install '98 all over which is something I'd really like to avoid...although new to BSD I've become a fan in a hurry. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated and certainly needed!
