Probably the system with the `#2' was built two times with `config -n' which doesn't blow away the ``version'' file (and the other files) in the ../../compile/kernel_name directory. If it works (may not always), the subsequent `make' is usually a lot faster as there is less compiling to perform. -- Regards, Norman C.
