I am running 3.0 in this exact system except for the fact that the
mainboard has the scsi uw onboard...
I am waiting for the Millenium II agp even if the Millenium II works quite
fast with the Xaccel 4.1 
I am using the new sound drivers of Luigi Rizzo... and Awe64 sounds good
even if it is reconignized as sb16 ...
The 3.0-current make world finishes in about 85 minutes...
