had it happen again, this time running mplayer via OpenAL [for some reason,
mplayer with the newest kernel started stuttering OSS audio, but openAL wor=
ks
ok until THIS BUG happened again)

initial symptoms of audio crashing sounded like rapidly repeating 1 buffer's
worth of audio, a kind of buzzing noise.  Shutting off mplayer stopped the
audio, but left the driver in a 'locked up' state.

following audio lock-up I captured some things:
