If so, then they make the driver a configuration driver (which might be very well possible) and then find the interface that has the ethernet interface in it themselves. Either way is possible, the way we do it enables you to have an aue device that also has another device in it (not that I know of an ethernet device that does that). It might be that they know of a device that doesn't attach when attached to as an interface driver. Might be.
