Didn't try this with CAM, which I should get to this afternoon, but with 2.2.6, after a few minutes of continous reading from the cd, the same thing happens with messages like : bt0: not taking commands ! bt0: operation timed out followed by a panic that I was looking the wrong way during. On an aic controller, there is just a panic under the same circumstances. Does this suggest a hardware problem with the drive ?
