Since the recent addition of support for battery removal to ACPI, my T30 (running current BIOS) now simply turns off (ouch) when the secondary battery is removed. There are not messages or delays. The instant I eject the battery, the system is powered off (with the attendant problems of sudden power failure on a file system running with soft updates). I don't know if this happens with any other laptop, but it's pretty disastrous on mine. acpidump, config, and whatever can be made available on request. -- R.
