>Description:
I use KWin with tiling support as window manager. Since recently that worked well (or rather so-so, but thats unrelated). Some time ago I started getting hangs when Kwin resized one window to make room for another (e.g. when opening a second non-foating window on a virtual desktop).

Details of the hang:
- cpu-usage of Xorg goes to 100%
- the mouse still moves (although jittery)
- applications freeze, I cannot click anything, keyboard is dead (not switching to a VT possible)
- ssh login is possible and computer can be restarted, but Xorg cannot be killed manually, not even with SIGKILL
- there is nothing in dmesg, the only thing in Xorg.0.log is:

[mi] EQ overflowing. The server is probably stuck in an infinite loop.

I am using xorg-7.5.1 installed from packages, with a ATI r480 card and xf86-video-ati-6.14.0_1 .
 Desktop Effects are turned *off*. KDE is 4.6.1, although I don't think KDE is the problem here, it just triggers some driver issue.

I will gladly provide any further info.

Thanks for your help!
>How-To-Repeat:
Set KWin to tiling mode (Systemsettings -> Window Behaviour -> Window Behaviour -> Advanced -> [X] Enable Tiling). Maybe also set "Columns Layout" and "Raise/Lower all floating windows".

Open any application, make sure the window is not floating (right-click on titlebar).
Open a sceond application and also make sure its not floating and not maximized.
-> hang
