In my case, the answer was to add: > kern.vty=vt > ...to /boot/loader.conf, and reboot. If the file doesn't exist, create > it. This worked perfectly on my old notebook, where I can switch back to text mode now. On my new notebook where Grub2 runs, I noticed yet another correlation. The problem exists only when I reboot by a Ctrl-Alt-Del or by a "shutdown -r". When switching off and on again, the text mode ist entered correctly in both sc and vt modes. Maybe I will detect further effects in daily use. Thank you so far. Bertram -- Bertram Scharpf Stuttgart, Deutschland/Germany http://www.bertram-scharpf.de
