I'm about at my wits end here. I installed FreeBSD 5.3 w/ GNOME 2.6 from cd. Now I want to install GNOME 2.8 from Gnome Tinderbox -- in other words /I do not want to use the ports system/, only packages. After reading the FreeBSD Gnome installation instructions I'll need to: # setenv PACKAGESITE http://www.marcuscom.com/tb/packages/5.3-FreeBSD/Latest/ # pkg_add -r gnome2 Now I'm guessing I need to get rid of my current gnome 2.6 packages, along with my xorg server etc. Is this correct? Is there a quick way to do this? And once I accomplish that are my 2 steps above correct? I really need straighforward help at this point. I don't have many nerves left! :) Thanks.
