Thanks. No, please do not commit this. As you can see this is a BETA level distribution; I have been thinking for a while to create a separate imap-uw-devel port for BETA versions. The current imap-uw port should remain "stable"... And BTW, remember how we were constantly chasing tarball changes almost weekly for beta versions ?? The proper patch is to modify the MASTER_SITES and adding a "old/" to each entry in their tail, see the attached patch (be carefull, there is a long line in there).
