But now I am not able to start apache: This is a n00b here, #apachectl configtest Syntax ok httpd-error.log reports: Mon May 1 00:48:28 2006] [alert] mod_unique_id: unable to gethostbyname("cathy@alfa.alfanet.com") A part of httpd.conf:- ServerName 127.0.0.1 (this line is uncommented) Listen 192.168.1.14:80 (This line commented or uncommented does not alter the error: Error remains : /usr/local/sbin/apachectl start: httpd could not be started I am going to use apache for the local intranet. It looks as if the host name "cathy@alfa.alfanet.com" has to be changed.
