Hmm, if the release of FreeBSD 4.3 can be held up because of Samba 2.2, then what about Gnome 1.4? Gnome 1.4 is a hell of a lot more effort to download and build than Samba 2.2 so it would be a lot more beneficial to have that on the CD than the newest Samba. How close to being ready is the Gnome 1.4 port, Ade? I also suspect that the majority of users will see more benefit from it that Samba-2.2, which mostly benefits corporates with Win NT/2k boxes. Perhaps release dates should be arranged in liaison with some of these other projects in future. That would be good for our relationships with other projects, and our own product too. I think delaying the release so that it includes the best current versions of some key ports is a good idea so I'm in favour of the slippage, but doing it for Samba does sort of set a precedence and if Gnome 1.4 was to get committed in the next few day there'd be a strong case for including it.
