Hi I am completely new to unix and have come up against a problem. On p. 87 of Lahey's user manual that came with my ver. 3.2 of FreeBSD, he recommends creating a directory /usr/var and soft-linking it to the original file, /var. When I do that, then re-boot, I get a message to the effect that "cannot find /var/run/... This tells me that the system doesn't know about the link, even though ls -F shows that the link exists. (Actually, it show that the contents of /var is var@). What's wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
