Also I think the pkg-descr shouldn't mention the DRI as it doesn't use it :) I don't believe it works on anything before FreeBSD 4.7 - perhaps the port should have a .if ${OSVERSION} < 470000 BROKEN= "Will not work on FreeBSD 4.6 or earlier" .endif I think the pkg-message should mention that you need to reinstall the port when you recompile your kernel. You can also put 'nvidia_load="YES"' in /boot/loader.conf.
