When you deinstall the port amanda-server and amanda-client. There is the amandad being left in /usr/local/libexec/amanda wich then does some evil things when you try to update your amanda. It'll coredump on every call of the planner, so your backups won't work.

Update amanda-server via portupgrade and run backup.
Deinstall amanda-server and amanda-client and have a look in /usr/local/libexec/amanda/
