This is a classic symptom of incorrect installation geometry. I can't count the number of times I've said this : READ THE INSTALLATION NOTES! SET THE GEOMETRY IN THE INSTALLER TO MATCH WHAT YOUR BIOS THINKS THE DISK IS. DO NOT GUESS. DO NOT PASS GO. DO NOT COLLECT $200. DO YOU UNDERSTAND? > > As a note, booteasy will not start FreeBSD off the second disk without > > some reprogramming. You can use OS-BS or any other boot manager if you This is completely wrong. Booteasy will quite happily start FreeBSD if it's on the second disk, and in an active partition, or occupying the whole disk, or if Booteasy is also on the second disk. I know; I've done this. > What reprogramming is necessary for booteasy to start from the second > disk? None. > What is OS-BS? An alternative, and arguably nicer bootselector. I am particularly enamoured of Booteasy's simplicity and the fact that it remembers your last choice, but I use OS-BS for the nice installer and easy uninstallation where such things are relevant. > marty -- ]] Mike Smith, Software Engineer msmith@atrad.adelaide.edu.au [[ ]] Genesis Software genesis@atrad.adelaide.edu.au [[ ]] High-speed data acquisition and (GSM mobile) 041-122-496 [[ ]] realtime instrument control (ph/fax) +61-8-267-3039 [[ ]] "Who does BSD?"
