I'm on 8.2. --As for the rest, it is mine. Not really 'solved' in that I still don't know what the problem was, but running portupgrade once fixed it. (I let it upgrade a couple of ports, but not all of them.) Leaving this here for whomever has this problem next. Daniel T.
