All of your info led me to the source of my problem, and once I had removed the old patch (that was mis-applied 3 times I am sorry to say) I was able to compile it into my kernel, and the rest is history. But alas, even with this triumph and an newly installed HD, I still am having crashes. I am beginning to thing that it is my httpd, because when I first boot the system, it says starting httpd daemons then can't bind httpd to port 80 then address already in use then when a few users have been on for a while (like 20 minutes) my system crashes. I have noticed these errors in my httpd.errors log, but don't know if this it really related. I think I may ditch the pci cyclades and the adaptec 2940 scsi stuff and just build a good old reliable IDE with ISA cyclades :-( I am just stumped!
