Yes!  If I remember correctly, gaim port installed ghostscript, a large c=
hunk
of gnome, cups, etc.  Perhaps I'm exaggerating.

I've whined about this in the past - it can be very frustrating when I de=
cide
to try something new - make install distclean, and come back to find X on
a server, or some fancy desktop environment worth several gigs installed
on my workstation.  I try to always read the Makefile, but...

Personally, I think make.conf should include WITHOUT_X11 and stuff
like that by default - or perhaps these ports that like to install massiv=
e=20
lists of dependencies (Linux, X, KDE, Gnome, whatever) could all=20
abide by a single WE_DON'T_WANT_IT flag?  :)

And because I have a feeling this isn't going anywhere any time soon,
is there an easy way to back out a port and all of its dependencies
that are not being used by other ports?
