-----Original Message----- From: Peter Leftwich <Hostmaster@Video2Video.Com> To: FreeBSD LIST <FreeBSD-Questions@FreeBSD.Org> Date: Mon, 5 Aug 2002 16:23:54 -0400 (EDT) Subject: mount_msdos woes Two major major major issues today involving mounting a floppy diskette!! Grrrr... first of all, when I `mount -t msdos /dev/fd0 /floppy/` mount a diskette that may have been corrupted by FreeBSD, the entire system for some reason `cd` changes to the /floppy directory. [snip] =20 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Do you have a directory named floppy/ under /? (I'm=20 not sure what effect the trailing slash might have.)=20 Are you in your root directory by chance when you=20 enter the command? If so, FreeBSD will be looking for=20 a directory named /floppy/ rather than one named=20 floppy/. Does the floppy currently have a FAT filesystem on it?=20 Not sure what you mean by "the entire system 'cd'=20 changes," except that the slash in front of /floppy/=20 says it's mounted under root, along with the rest of your system.
