The same engine could parse the message for messages from first time posts with certain key phrases like PPP (grin) or any of the other asked a million times questions, auto respond with a pointer to the faq and relevant docs for whatever keyed the response. A reply to this message could be let through to the list... just a thought. Appropriate for a newsgroup too.
