here's the source of the query. i have a modem on cuaa1. if i cu into the modem and type AT then i get the OK response. if i tip into it & AT then I get no response. i still have a bit of work to do on this but . . . does anyone know the actual difference between tip & cu 'cause I can't seem to find out. p.s. you can forget the problem i'll work on that one (the /etc/remote entry's ok - perhaps baud rate) - i'm just curious. thanks, fergus. fergus cameron.
