Needing to make install before make package is a design flaw - it should be the other way around. The implementation needs to be able to ensure that the building host's environment is affected only by installing the package/port, not just by building the port into a package. It can be done. I like the number of ports available in FreeBSD compared to the other BSDs, so it's not all one way. -- Christopher Vance
