I did not need to disable plug and play. I am now having difficulty getting the ethernet card working It seems to detect that I have a RealTek 8139 card (which is correct). Here is what dmesg returns: rl0: port 0xec00-0xecff mem 0xd3001000-0xd30010ff irq 11 at device 15.0 on pci0 rl0: Realtek 8139B detected. Warning, this may be unstable in autoselect mode rl0: couldn't map interrupt device_probe_and_attach: rl0 attach returned 6 I also noticed this just before the ethernet card: pci0: at device 2.7 (no driver attached) sio0: port 0xe800-0xe807 irq 11 at device 7.0 on pci0 sio0: moving to sio4 sio4: type 16550A So, I guess FreeBSD does not do plug and play, and what I have is an irq conflict?
