I knew this pretty much but like I said it's the only "new" thing I had done which stumbled me. In closing it was in fact, bad src from cvsup, (it has happened before no one is perfect.) or somehow my src tree was "out of date" and behind my kernel. Maybe certain changes were made to the tree or what not. Anyhow, I made world, and all is fine now.
