Hi there. First off I would like to thank you for your initial help. I followed your instructions but I couldn't get them to work. I'll will outline every thing that I have done so far and all that I can on my NIC. I have configured a custom kernel and in the kernel source I added the line: device ed0 at pci?=20 I also disabled all ISA NIC configurations that were there. in my /boot/kernel.conf there is a line that reads: en ed0 Here are the entries in my /etc/rc.conf file: ifconfig_interface=3D"inet ip.address.here netmask 255.255.255.0" defaultrouter=3D"gateways.ip.address" #of course all these fields have= their network_interfaces=3D"interface ed1" #correct entries :) hostname=3D"myhost.mydomain.org" When I boot the machine here is what I get on the ethernet card: Probing PCI Bus 0: ed1:<NE2000 Ethernet (RealTek 8029)> rev 0x00 int a irq 255 on pci0.11.0 Then the rest of the boot-up... Then I get an error when ifconfig tries to find the card: ifconfig: interface ed1 does not exist. But that makes no sence to me because the boot sequence found the card with no problem. and of course the routing and the rest of the inet stuff fails. I have tried to use ed0, ed1, and ed2 but have recieved the same result from all three. If anyone has any ideas I would like to hear them.=20 Chris.=09 =A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4= =A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4 =A4 Visit our website at http://24.113.95.111/ =A4 =A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4= =A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4 To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
